It was a highly fruitful educational activity.

In addition to this exchange, we also had two previous online exchanges where students took initiatives in creating PowerPoint presentations and video logs introducing their school and culture in English. The improvement in the skills and abilities of our students was evident. The welcome performance was also impressive as the students had practiced on their own. On the day, they proactively interacted with their “buddies” using gestures, making an effort to make their stay enjoyable. The exchange program, along the advance preparations, was successfully completed thanks to the cooperation of all related parties,. It was a highly fruitful educational activity.

location_city Reviews from Students

It was such an enjoyable experience learning about their country and culture through this interaction.

Frankly speaking, it was fun—that’s my main takeaway. It was such an enjoyable experience learning about their country and culture through this interaction. I’m also glad they enjoyed their encounter with Japanese culture. There was a language barrier, but putting in effort to communicate somehow helped us improve our abilities. It was an opportunity for me to try out my English skills. I’m very happy to have made many new friends outside my own country. I’m truly glad that I participated.

I realized that I need to practice English even more so I can use it properly.

In the online exchanges, we were able to showcase our culture and get a sense of Taiwan. The school introduction video was a great opportunity to learn about the daily lives of Taiwanese high school students. During the face-to-face exchange, I got plenty of opportunities to talk with the student I was paired up with as well as members of the group, but there were times when I struggled with English. I also didn’t know some of the words they used. The communication barrier was frustrating. However, I really enjoyed putting effort into the tofu-making and indigo-dyeing workshops with them. I realized that I need to practice English even more so I can use it properly.
